Eilene Carver

Eilene primarily paints narrative still-lifes, which employ symbolism through everyday objects. She returns to Texas based imagery often finding the familiar Hill Country imagery affords her a pleasant break from the weightier themes of her usual work. She enjoys the essential focus on color and increased surface interest  the Texas imagery allows her.

She particularly enjoys painting Texas Skies, stating “Since childhood I have been an avid observer of the dramatic Texas skies. They reflect the mercurial nature of Texas weather which can quickly transform from the ‘buttermilk clouds’ of summer to foreboding storms in minutes and then ultimately present brilliant palettes at days end. Watching the beauty & drama unfold never fails to produce awe and closeness to my creator.”

Eilene is a Dallas Ft Woth area artist, raised in South Texas, one of four visual artists in her family. She holds an MFA in Painting from UC Berkeley and earned her BFA in Design from Baylor. Her work has been included in national & regional exhibitions, received numerous awards, and resides in private collections throughout the US.

Eilene has taught at the college level since the nineties at Napa Valley College, The Richmond Art Center and currently Collin College where she has received the Vision Award and Outstanding Professor of the Year. As a professor she is known for her passionate student interaction and encouragement of individual creative growth. Current and past professional art organizations include Women’s Caucus for Art, Christians in the Visual Arts, Texas Artist’s Coalition, Collage Art Association, Cross Timbers Artists Guild, and the Visual Arts Guild of Frisco.
